Why should I attend?
Due to the changing demographics of our communities, care and service providers will be challenged to meet all of the demands of our aging and disabled residents. The Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging (WRAAA) is a champion of a paradigm shift that is uniting the aging and disability networks in our Ohio communities to strengthen access to systems that service both populations. The WRAAA Conference on Independent Living will demonstrate how systems from both networks can service the needs of both populations. Care professionals will explore innovative perspectives on how our communities can build, strengthen and increases access to service systems through collaboration between networks. The content of this conference will provide care and service professionals with information enabling them to link their consumers to services that foster independence.
The Conference on Independent Living and Awards Reception helps the WRAAA in advancing its mission and expanding its role as a champion of independent living in the community. This event brings recognition to the various arenas that make independent living possible for older adults and persons with disabilities. The Conference clarifies the value and importance of cooperation and collaboration between networks and forces them to coordinate their work for a common goal of helping older adults and persons with disabilities remain truly independent. The Conference on Independent Living and Awards Reception also provides opportunities for professionals to network, collaborate, and learn about new research and policy developments related to independent living and best practices across different arenas.
