Family Caregiver Support
One in four adults will care for an older
relative or spouse. Caregiving may begin gradually or may be the result of a
crisis. If you are a caregiver, the WRAAA offers:
Information, referral and assistance - finding the information and
resources to make caregiving easier. Professional staff will connect you with
community agencies and services, provide fact sheets and publications that may
answer some of your questions, and direct you to other resources. Answers and
assistance are also available by e-mailing the project at WRAAACaregiver@Yahoo.com.
Assessment and planning - a social worker or nurse will review
your needs and help create a caregiving plan with you. If you need additional
help, a Care Coordinator will help you locate service providers and make
connections for you.
During the next few months, the WRAAA will continue to develop the Family
Caregiver Support Program. Services will include Support groups to give
you the opportunity to learn and share with other caregivers, giving you helpful
tips, ideas, and support. Education and training events will be available
to teach you skills and resources for caregiving. Temporary or emergency
respite services may be provided on a sliding-scale fee basis. Respite may
be in-home services, adult day care, or, if needed, a short term stay in a
facility. Other supplemental services are available as needed such as
help in applying for public benefits, transportation escorts, and more.
